Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Control Asserted from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
